AP Chemistry tutoring with working chemists.

AP Chemistry rewards conceptual fluency more than memorization. Our UCLA tutors come from chemistry, biochem, chemical engineering, and pre-med programs, and they teach the why behind every reaction.

The students we tend to do best with.

Right for students aiming for a 4 or 5, students retaking the test after a 2 or 3, and pre-med juniors who need a strong chem record on the transcript.

Four things every AP Chemistry engagement includes.

01

Stoichiometry that stops being a slog

We teach mole math as a single unit-cancellation routine. Once it clicks, the rest of the year gets faster.

02

Equilibrium and kinetics, side by side

These two units cause the most confusion because the College Board interleaves them. We separate the concepts cleanly and then reintroduce the connections.

03

Thermo and electrochem

Free energy, enthalpy, entropy, and cell potentials are all the same idea told four ways. Our tutors make that explicit.

04

Lab questions and free response

The exam's lab-design questions are scored on a tight rubric. We drill the rubric and walk through every released FRQ from the last decade.

A plan you can read in a paragraph.

Weekly through the year, intensive in March and April. We hold extra hours the week before the exam at no markup.

AP Chemistry questions families ask.

Do I need a strong algebra background for AP Chem?+
Yes. The math is not hard, but the stoichiometry routines fall apart fast if algebra basics are shaky. We can shore that up in the first two sessions.
How does AP Chem compare to honors chem?+
AP Chem is roughly a full year of first-semester college chemistry. The pace is faster, the labs are more rigorous, and the exam is hard. It is a good fit for students who actually like the subject.
